David Grohl and I have a love/hate relationship. I loved him in Nirvana until Kurt died, it escalated with the Foos’ The Colour and The Shape, and promptly burned out with the release of There’s Nothing Left to Lose. We courted briefly with One by One and split again for the first year after In Your Honour. After a few social disagreements that he couldn’t drop, dating back to 2001 (namely Alive and Well), I turned my back on him for good. He came back to me with his grungy, punk attitude that I love so much with Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace and last night, he surprised me again by supporting same-sex marriage (therefore, rectifying his previous social disobedience.)
The white ribbon is a symbol from the organization whiteknot, who sports the slogan “Everybody should have the right to tie the knot.”
